The Rotaract Club of Shivani Engineering College, parented by the Rotary Club of Thiruchirappalli Shakthi, organized an Introduction and Orientation Programme on 19 August 2026 at the Seminar Hall of Shivani Engineering College, Trichy. The programme aimed to introduce students to the ideals, activities, leadership opportunities and community service initiatives of the Rotaract movement.
The programme commenced with the collaring ceremony, followed by the meeting being called to order and the invocation of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu. The Rotaract Prayer was delivered by Rtn. Nisha, Incoming President, followed by the presentation of the Rotary Four-Way Test by Rtn. Monica, Treasurer.
The Welcome Address was delivered by K.P. Ravikumar, Faculty Advisor, Shivani Engineering College, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, Rotarians, Rotaractors, faculty members and students.
The programme featured the honouring of distinguished guests representing Shivani Engineering College and the Parent Rotary Club. The college representatives included Rtn. K. Kamar Jahan, President; Rtn. S. Vanaja Shanmugasundaram, Secretary; the District Rotaract Committee Chairperson; and the District Rotaract Representative. Representatives of the Parent Rotary Club, including the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, were also present along with the Principal/Vice Principal and Faculty Advisor.
The Principal, Vice Principal and Dean of Shivani Engineering College were felicitated during the programme. The Presidential Address was delivered by representatives of the Parent Rotary Club, while Rtn. K. Kamar Jahan, President, highlighted the purpose and significance of the orientation programme.
An insightful introduction to the Rotaract movement and its activities was presented by Rtn. Dr. Shobana Anand, District Rotaract Committee Chairperson. The Core Orientation and Presentation was delivered by Rtn. PHF. Harish Amudavel, District Rotaract Representative (DRR). The session provided students with valuable insights into Rotaract's values, leadership opportunities, fellowship, community service initiatives and the important role of young people in creating positive social change.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Rtn. S. Vanaja Shanmugasundaram, Secretary, followed by the National Anthem. Rtn. Karthiyaini, Sergeant-at-Arms, coordinated the proceedings and contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme.
The orientation programme served as an inspiring platform for students to understand the vision and mission of Rotaract and encouraged them to actively participate in leadership, fellowship and community service activities. The event marked an important step towards strengthening the Rotaract Club of Shivani Engineering College and motivating students to become responsible, compassionate and socially committed young leaders.
