• Dr. G. Uthayakumaran is an accomplished academic administrator and engineering professional with extensive experience in technical education, institutional development, student admissions, campus placements, academic administration, and industry–institution interaction.

• He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, an M.E. in Metallurgy from Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Welding Research Institute, BHEL, Tiruchirappalli.

• He began his professional career with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli, gaining valuable industrial exposure before moving into higher education and academic administration.

Academic & Administrative Experience

• He has served as Principal in several reputed engineering institutions, where he played a significant role in institutional development and academic administration.

• Served as Principal at VSB Engineering College, Oxford Engineering College, ARJ College of Engineering & Technology, and Vandayar Engineering College.

• Held senior academic leadership positions across leading engineering institutions in Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Mannargudi, and Thanjavur.

Campus Recruitment & Placements

• He has played an active role in strengthening industry–institution relationships and campus recruitment.

• Organized campus recruitment drives involving reputed organizations including Wipro, HCL, i-Flex Solutions, L&T and Perot Systems.

• Conducted multiple campus recruitment programmes annually across institutions.

• Contributed to achieving significant placement outcomes, with more than 60% student placement reported at institutions under his leadership.

• Served as President of the Inter Engineering Placement Cell, a consortium of 22 engineering colleges in Tiruchirappalli, during 2004–2006.

Academic Administration & Quality Assurance

• His academic leadership responsibilities have included:

  • Successfully conducting University examinations as Principal and Chief Superintendent.

  • Coordinating NBA and ISO activities.

  • Coordinating AICTE and University inspection committees.

  • Organizing guest lectures, seminars, conferences and technical symposiums.

  • Motivating faculty members to improve academic performance and university examination results.

  • Promoting teamwork, discipline and student development.

  • Strengthening industry–institution interaction and professional exposure for students.

• He has participated in and contributed to various national and international academic and technical programmes, including:

• Technical programmes on the latest developments in coil, oil and gas burners for boilers at BHEL, Tiruchirappalli.

• Coordination of 120 technical programmes across India through BHEL, Tiruchirappalli.

• Programmes on educational changes for better placement, organized by NASSCOM, Chennai.

• Industry–Institution Interaction programmes involving academic institutions and BHEL.

• International Workshop on Research conducted by the Higher Education Academy, London, and Vels University, Chennai, in April 2012.
